X Unveils 'Stories': Harnessing Grok AI for News Digestion
X is introducing an exciting new feature called Stories, designed to streamline news consumption on the platform. Utilizing advanced Grok AI technology, Stories delivers condensed versions of news articles to users. This innovative feature aims to save time and offer a convenient way for users to stay informed about trending topics.

X has rolled out a suite of fresh AI-driven functionalities, as revealed by the official X engineering team through their handle @XEng. Premium subscribers will now receive condensed versions of posts related to trending stories on the platform. These summaries will be accessible within the 'For You' section of the 'Explore' tab. The 'For You' page tailors content based on users' interests, allowing them to stay abreast of platform activities. Rather than directly sourcing text from articles or news items, tapping on a story will now present summaries crafted from platform conversations.
However, like many AI models, X acknowledges that Grok can sometimes generate inaccurate information, a phenomenon known as hallucinations. Alongside the summary it generates, users will find a cautionary message advising them to verify its outputs due to this potential for errors.
Although the concept of summarizing popular news topics isn't groundbreaking, the method of delivery is distinctive. During Jack Dorsey's tenure at Twitter, the platform introduced a comparable feature. However, rather than relying on AI, Twitter manually curated summaries of ongoing trends, pinning tweets to provide users with necessary context.
In recent months, X has been actively developing new features, including a conferencing solution reminiscent of Google Meet. Additionally, in preparation for the general election, the platform expanded its Community Notes feature to India earlier this month.
